There are 20 days left to Christmas!
Now that its December 5th I feel that I can actually start THINKING about this wonderful event that graces us every year. I am NOT one to start thinking about it until AFTER Thanksgiving … I truly believe we need to give thanks FIRST … Besides, we can start worrying about what to get Aunt Sue and Cousin Joe! Also, thank goodness, there are LOTS of great presents still left to buy. Plus even some fun holiday getaways that you may still be able to squeeze in before Santa comes down your chimney!
So … if you are looking for a wonderful location
… to enjoy a festive day or two (although it would be easy to stay much longer) … plan a trip to The Biltmore Estate & the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. Being that I am a real estate agent by trade, I LOVE learning more about historical homes and who wouldn’t LOVE to see the country’s LARGEST home … especially at Christmas time! By day, the elegant rooms of Biltmore House shimmer, beautifully bedecked with Christmas trees, ribbons, garlands, and thousands of twinkling lights. At night, flickering candlelight, glowing fireplaces, and live music at Biltmore House invite you to imagine yourself a guest at the first Vanderbilt family Christmas. Holiday light displays welcome you to Antler Hill Village & Winery. I still remember the first time I toured the Biltmore House at Christmastime … I was in awe!!!
If you need to get your “horse fix”
… while you are there, experience the estate’s beauty during a 30-minute ride aboard a surrey carriage. A brief stop along the way provides stunning views of Biltmore House and an opportunity to meet the horses. Be sure to bring along some carrots or sugar cubes! If you are looking to squeeze in a round of golf during your stay, the Biltmore house does not offer a golf course, but, The Grove Park Inn (which is another dazzling place to visit during Christmas) does have a very nice “mountain” course.
Donald Ross
… originally designed this historic course in 1926, and it was overhauled in 2001 to keep the same feel and spirit. It has since earned nods from Conde Nast Traveler (Top 20 Southern U.S. Golf Resorts in 2011) and North Carolina Golf Panel (Top 100 Golf Courses in the State). This historic course has consistently been acknowledged as one of the Top Resort Golf Courses in North Carolina by Golfweek Magazine. The course is open year round excluding inclement weather. Booking a tee time is as easy as picking up the phone and calling (800) 438-5800. So….if you want to play a little “Christmas golf, I highly recommend the Grove Park Golf Course. Here are some links to find more about booking rooms, rides, rounds and SO much more this Christmas at the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC!
