Now that Christmas 2019
… is over and you are looking for something fun to do for New Years…..or any time in the new year….try Myrtle Beach! We spent New Year’s eve there several years ago and had a blast. So much to do! Furthermore, what could be better than waking up to the New Year walking the beach and watching the first sunrise of the year. Myrtle Beach is a city and vacation resort on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast. Thus, the hub of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches. It’s also known for its celebrity-designed golf courses. Indeed, there are over 90 of them!
So…if you are looking to play some fun and affordable golf courses over the holiday, you really need to add Myrtle Beach to your list. A course we recently played was called the World Tour Golf Links. Each hole is fashioned after famous holes from some of the BEST golf courses in the world. Imagine playing, Augusta, Pinehurst #2, Pebble Beach and St. Andrews all in one day. To play the courses which inspired World Tour Golf Links, you’d have to travel nearly 20,000 miles, through six times zones and five different countries.
After you are done playing golf
… check out some of the MANY great restaurants or entertainment venues in and around Myrtle Beach. Along its beachfront boardwalk are arcades, souvenir stands and all types of restaurants, as well as the old-fashioned Family Kingdom amusement park and the SkyWheel one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels. The views from there are amazing.
If you are looking for a great place to have lunch or dinner after your round of golf, one of my favorite golf themed restaurants is Greg Norman’s Australian Grille. This waterfront restaurant is the perfect place to watch some of the New Year’s Bowl games, too! The innovative menu features exotic Australian fare and a wine list that has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 15 years, consistently ranking them as Myrtle Beach’s premier steak and seafood restaurant. We have yet to see Greg Norman there…..but we will keep going back as you never know!
For New Year’s Eve
… a great place that I have been to is The Market Common. In 1998, The Myrtle Beach Air Force Base was turned into this new, hip development. The Market Common opened in 2008. Many of the streets in the district are named after former Myrtle Beach Air Force Commanders, or other notable Air Force members who were assigned to the base.
Also scattered throughout Market Common are small memorial information signs noting historical facts about the base. The shopping and restaurants are amazing and the entertainment on the streets during New Year’s eve is always the best! So…when you are done golfing or walking on the beach, head over to The Market Common to celebrate 2020! SO much to do in Myrtle Beach in the New Year and ALL year. More posts to come about Myrtle Beach in the future. Stay tuned!
