OCALA, FLORIDA – Riding and Golfing
Courses and Horses blogs all about great places to ride your horse and play golf. Well…Ocala, In my view Florida is one of those places. Therefore I decided to take a nice LONG vacation with my horse, Deuce, my boyfriend, Jim and one of my lucky dogs, Jester. And definitely come to Ocala to check it all out!
We arrived safely on Saturday to a beautiful barn just on the outskirts of Ocala called Remeta Sky. Obviously Deuce’s turn out is large and grassy, his stall roomy and airy and the training rings are top notch! I will be writing more about the riding, training and “horsing around” in future blogs. Furthermore, Deuce needed a day or two to rest after the eight and a half hour trailer ride, we decided to explore golfing options in Ocala first!
GOLF IN OCALA
We quickly discovered one of the top ten municipal courses in the state of Florida called The Ocala Golf Club. Built in 1920 and located at 3130 East Silver Springs Boulevard, this amazing course of 6552 yards was just what we were looking for our first day in Florida. Besides, it’s on Florida’s Historical Golf Trail. The expansive clubhouse includes a fully-stocked Golf Shop. Furthermore a “19th Hole” grill room with dining and a banquet area where there was a private party getting ready to start when we were there. The course has one of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen called the “Wedding Tree”. Also, this live oak is over 110 years old!
I spoke with Golf Pro, Joe Gercie
… who was in the pro shop when we were there. Rounds of golf are only $25-$35 and that includes daily specials with a cart and lunch as part of the deal!. They even have an $18 a year membership and you get $5 off each round. The price was hard to beat. The practice facilities were some of the best with a large driving range, ample chipping and sand practice areas and a very nice practice putting green. What we loved about it was that they were so friendly and even allowed us to bring my dog, Jester out to the practice area!! Check them out at The Ocala Golf Club →
So if you are looking for a wonderful, friendly place to play some golf while you and your horse are taking a break from riding while in Ocala, try The Ocala Golf Club. Golf Advisor gives it a 4 star rating.
